MARCH 22 - WORLD WATER DAY

In 1992, the general assembly of the UN declared March 22 as a World Water Day. This day is a unique opportunity to remind all people the extraordinary importance of water for life on the blue planet Earth.

WATER AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Water and climate change are two interconnected vessels that interact with each other. In the context of climate change, water is a key element in ensuring a sustainable quality of life for the population and preserving biodiversity. By using appropriate measures of mitigation and adaption to climate change, we can also contribute to the preservation and sustainability of the quantitative and qualitative properties of water and increase the ability of the environment to withstand the negative impacts of climate change.

Therefore, DO NOT FORGET WETLANDS

With the support of Norwegian grants and the state budget of the Slovak Republic, it is possible to participate in the Open Call for project proposals titled as "Restoration of degraded wetland ecosystems"(ClimaLocal) within the SK-Climate Programme. The deadline of the Call is 31 March 2021. Through a successful project, you can also contribute to restoring and strengthening the capacity of degraded wetland ecosystems to adapt to climate change and ensure the sustainable delivery of their ecosystem services, in order to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on the environment and quality of life.
